Coolie review

"Coolie" is a grand cinematic spectacle directed by the talented Lokesh Kanagaraj, the "Kinathukadavu boy," who once again proves his mettle by crafting a stylish, high-energy entertainer. The film brings together an incredible ensemble cast and a skilled crew, delivering a memorable experience for Tamil and pan-Indian audiences alike. The film is led by the legendary Rajinikanth as Devaraj "Deva," whose magnetic screen presence dominates every frame. At 75, Rajini effortlessly blends his trademark swag, powerful dialogue delivery, and emotional depth, making Deva both a larger-than-life hero and a relatable man with a cause. Opposite him, Nagarjuna Akkineni delivers a compelling performance as Simon Xavier, adding a nuanced antagonist dimension that contrasts well with Rajini's heroism. Malayalam actor Soubin Shahir makes an impressive Tamil debut as Dayalan "Dayal," bringing fresh energy and depth to the storyline. Upendra returns to Tamil cinema as the formidable Kaleesha, while the veteran Sathyaraj impresses as Rajasekar, adding gravitas with his seasoned acting. Shruti Haasan shines as Preethi, Deva’s biological daughter, adding emotional weight and a tender side to the narrative. Kannada actress Rachita Ram makes her Tamil debut as Kalyani Dilip, supporting a complex web of relationships. The film also includes notable appearances from Reba Monica John, Monisha Blessy, and others who enrich the story’s texture. Aamir Khan's special appearance as Dahaa adds to the film’s pan-Indian appeal, creating exciting buzz with his reunion with Rajinikanth. Pooja Hegde steals the spotlight in the captivating dance number "Monica," paying homage to the Italian actress Monica Bellucci. Behind the scenes, Coolie boasts technical brilliance. The gripping and pulsating music composed by Anirudh Ravichander is a standout, perfectly complementing the film’s action and emotional beats. Girish Gangadharan’s cinematography captures the gritty and stylish world with finesse, while Philomin Raj’s crisp editing ensures a taut narrative flow that keeps viewers hooked. The action choreography by the Anbariv duo adds spectacular combat sequences that are both intense and visually thrilling. Lokesh Kanagaraj's direction showcases his modern filmmaking style blended with mass appeal, creating a film that caters to both discerning cinephiles and mass audiences. His screenplay balances action, drama, and humor effortlessly, keeping the film engaging throughout. Coolie is an entertainment powerhouse—a perfect blend of star power, skilled technicians, and gripping storytelling. It celebrates mass cinema with style, substance, and swag, affirming Lokesh Kanagaraj’s status as a leading filmmaker and Rajinikanth’s undiminished charisma as a superstar.
